Nicole Smith became a dementia expert through lived experience from a daughter's perspective in caring for three aging parents. Nicole's book, Diagnosis Dementia: Your Guide to Eldercare Planning and Crisis Management, is a roadmap for navigating the legal, medical, financial, and emotional aspects of being a caregiver. Nicole is part of the GenX generation, sandwiched between three parents and five children. She created a support network through family, friends, and paid professionals to move her mother into memory care and encourage her father to get his legal affairs in order. Nicole is part of the Daughterhood.org team, a national virtual support group for caregivers experiencing exhaustion and grief in search of a community that gets it. Nicole is an advocate for dementia awareness with a desire to share what she continues to learn with families who want to be collaborative and proactive around aging, or find themselves in unfamiliar territory and facing tough decisions.
